In order to accommodate the largest cruise vessels in the Port of Castries in Saint Lucia, Ballast Nedam International Projects BV (BNIP) has reached an agreement with Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) for the extension of existing berths.

The project includes the expansion of existing Cruise Berth as well as additional works for the three mooring dolphins. Construction work started in January 2017 and is expected to be complete in November 2017.

With the completion of the project in the island of St. Lucia, a major hotspot in the Caribbean, the world’s largest cruise vessels will be able to berth in the Port of Castries. Accordingly, 348-meter long Quantum Class vessels and 339-meter long Freedom Class vessels will be able to anchor in the new berth. Once the dredging of the port basin is complete in the future phases of the project, vessels of the Oasis Class, currently the world’s largest cruise vessels with a length of 360 meters, will also be able to berth.
