Acting with environmental responsibility and awareness, Renaissance Construction has knew the negative impacts of the structures built on environmental and human health such as excessive consumption of energy, water and materials and emissions of various greenhouse gases. Renaissance Construction, adopting various strategies to avoid possible effects of its projects on the environment and human health, has attached great importance to design, construct and operate its projects in accordance with the “Green Building” principles.
As being a leader in its sectors; Renaissance Construction has also taken pioneering and innovative steps in the regions where it operates with the importance given to sustainability and environmental health through undertaking various projects awarded by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification; that is one of the most important certifications in the field of environment issued by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
Through designing with sustainable design principles, supplying environmentally friendly and re-cycled materials, utilizing sustainable technologies and constructing with green building principles, some of the projects of Renaissance Construction, which have been awarded by LEED certification by USGBC, are as follows:
- Renaissance Pravda, the first and only office building of Russia to be awarded with the LEED Gold Certificate of Russia
- TED Renaissance College, the first private school of Turkey to be awarded with the LEED Gold Certificate
- The A-class office project, Renaissance Tower, the first high-rise building of Turkey that has received the LEED Platinum Certificate
Renaissance Construction has also been conducting various studies with its project participants in the fields such as water and energy consumption, material usage, waste management and indoor air quality. The contexts of its studies, which have been continuously improved and within which innovative solutions are incorporated, are defined as follows:
SUSTAINABLE SITES
- Developing strategies about prevention of construction pollution
- Measuring and minimizing the heat island effect
- Identifying and minimizing light pollution
- Analyzing sites in the context of environment
LOCATION AND TRANSPORTATION
- Assessing the sites in terms of “urbanization” density and proximity to basic services
- Assessing the sites in terms of appropriateness of alternative transportation systems and public transportation
- Developing sites to protect the natural habitat and enhance open space
WATER CONSUMPTION
- Implementing water efficient landscaping
- Utilizing innovative waste-water technologies
- Decreasing water consumption
MATERIAL AND RESOURCE USAGE
- Using materials appropriate for recycling
- Effectively facilitating waste management system
- Encouraging the material re-use
- Prioritizing to use regional materials
ENERGY AND ATMOSPHERE
- Utilizing efficient and sustainable building energy systems
- Enabling energy saving and efficiency
- Using renewable energy
- Measuring, auditing and implementing necessary strategies about energy consumption
INDOOR AIR QUALITY
- Enhancing the indoor air quality
- Undertaking smoke control
- Preparing and developing indoor air quality management plan
- Using low emission-materials
- Auditing the indoor air quality
- Ensuring the highest degree of utilization of daylight
The green buildings constructed by Renaissance Construction have the following characteristics:
- Evaluates the land as in most appropriately
- Uses materials appropriate to be re-cycled
- Uses renewable energy sources
- Utilizes daylight in the highest degree
- Controls the indoor air quality and protects from dust, toxic gases emissions
- Provides cost savings from heating, cooling and lighting
- Attaches important for the rain water collection and treatment
- Implements solid waste management practices
- Complies with international environmental laws and standards
